Albright and Martocello All-America!

Chris Albright and Alex Martocello have become York College's 21st and 22nd All-America wrestlers. Expect a full write up in the morning, but for now know that Chris Albright will be wrestling in the Semi-Finals against top seed Bebeto Yewah of UW-Lax. Alex has seven seed Josef Rau of Elmhurst.

Expect both wrestlers to be focused in the matches and be prepared as they have been all week in preparation to become All-America wrestlers.

Albright and Martocello win matches in rd of 16

Chris Albright and Alex Martocello both reached the NCAA Quarter finals, but in drastically different manners. Chris use two sets of backpoints in the 3rd period to pull away from Chris LeClere from Coe College. Alex used a barrage of takedowns to win 9-3 over Andrew Roberts of Cornell College.

Waiting for Chris is #5 Seed Ryan Bridge of Steven Tech and #3 Seed Mike Denver gets to tangle with Alex Martocello in the quarters.

Thank you fans!

Hey what’s up everyone, it’s Chris Albright,First off I would like to thank all the parents, fans, teammates and alumni for all of the support throughout this long grueling season. We really appreciate it and could not have the success we had without you.Just wanted to give everyone an inside look at what Alex and I have been up to the past week as we prepare to bring home two national championships for York. Yesterday we had a hard drilling practice. We drilled on our feet and on the mat, hitting every aspect of each. We are very focused on perfecting our skills, getting our conditioning to the highest level and sticking with what has worked for us all year.I am very excited for this opportunity and I know Alex is too. I am feeling better than ever and am ready to travel to Wisconsin and make some noise. All the blood, sweat and tears of a season have brought us to this point and now it is time for us to shine for York. We both have a mindset of being a national champion and nothing less will do. We are ready physically and mentally. It’s time to dominate. See you all when we get back with our national championship trophies!

BOOM!

Thanks,
Chris Albright

Roll Tide

Today marked the beginning of the final week of preparations for the National Championships. The practices are being toned down, with no live wrestling happening since last Thursday. Rocky & Chris both seem to be relaxed and focused at the same time. That is the key to success at the national championships. This is the tournament that they have been working for since the captain runs in early September. All the weight cutting, lifting, running, and wrestling practices conclude on Friday & Saturday where 170 wrestlers will compete for the top prize a National Championship in their respective weight classes.
The main thing that I have personally preaching to both Rocky & Chris is to stick with their routines leading up to Friday & Saturday. This will be key for their success out there. The main reason is that it will help them stay calm. It will also help them stay focused and not get caught up in the overwhelming atmosphere of the NCAA Championships. I have seen many talented wrestlers get caught up and lose focus at the worst possible times. This is what I am trying to avoid with Rocky & Chris. I believe that these two are grasping the concept as they seem very relaxed and focused. Until tomorrow when I talk about the match ups that we will & could be facing on their way to All-American status.
